a good enough shave

they do the trick. i cant believe razor blades in general are so expensive but this package is not a bad deal. i use each blade about 15 times before i replace them although they do dull out after about 8. but i am a very frugal and poor person so i cannot afford to replace them like a prince. overall though a good value.

Mediocre and Overpriced

Unfortuantely, these mediocre and overpriced blades are probably the best shave that most people will get from the mass produced blades and shaver systems. It gives a better shave than most 2 blade razors I've tried (Excel, etc.), and 3 blades is about the most blades that I can use on a razor and be able to get to all the nooks and crannies on my face - thus I don't recommend the Fusion or any other razor with more than 3 blades. Here are a few other points:

1) For thicker beards, these blades will rarely last more than a few shaves before you feel the tug and pull leading to razor bumps.

2) I do give these blades credit for the flow through design allowing hair and residue to be rinsed through the blades without clogging them; but, then again, why do you need 3 blades in a razor? With an exceptional blade, you should only need one to cut your facial hair.

3) Another design flaw with this razor (as well as most razors) is that the "fins" or whatever they are called, on the bottom portion of the razor head (that supposedly "prep" your beard) actually scoops away the shaving cream before the blades have a chance to touch that portion of your face - so now you have 3 blades being pulled across inadaquately lubricated skin. Trust me, you need the shaving cream there when the blade scrapes across.

4) I would recommend getting a classic double edge razor. My wife has noticed a huge difference in my face and neck - no more razor burn! I can shave everyday now. I prefer a Merkur double edge razor which can be found on Amazon or you can do a google search for "classic shaving" to find them for cheaper. The blades will usually run about $5 for a ten pack, and one of these super sharp blades last about a week for most people. Think of the cost savings and the benefit to your skin if you only gave up purchasing the ever increasingly expensive and insane multiple blade cartridges

Great, calming, post shave balm!

I bought this after looking for a calm and nice smelling post shave balm to use on my face. This does exactly that. I find that I get no irritation later in the day or any kind of burn feeling (sometimes I would get this from changing the blades) when I use this product.

This has a great, light, smell. It does NOT smell like a old mans cologne or aftershave at all, in fact if that is the smell you are going for - this is not the product for you.

I will be back for more.

Saved my legs!

Without question, this is the best razor and blades I've used. It gives me the closest shave with the fewest nicks. I've been using this for years, and I won't give it up. I do think that the replacement blades are overpriced, but I'm still buying them. For me, who was chopping up my legs all over the place, this was a godsend. Quite simly, Venus gives me the smoothest shave without nicks all over the place.

The Gillette Venus is the best razor for women, I have only cut myself once and it was when my husband scared me while I was in the shower, so it really wasn't the razors fault. I recommend these to any woman who is tired of knicking yourself while shaving.

Best Stuff You Can Get.

If you have rashes or blemishes and burning on your face after a shave, this is your stuff. I've been using it for... over 2 years now. Like another reviewer stated, if you forget it, you'll know it. It removes the rash in like 5 minutes. It makes your face feel great immediately and lasts for a long time. The best thing I've noticed is that it won't clog your pores.

OK so the bottle is glass and heavy, I happen to like it. Just be sure your hands are not dripping wet and don't use it while standing over the sink - (carpet will absorb it if you can predict when it will fall). If you still don't like glass in the bathroom, transfer it to another container because this is the best it gets.

cheaper at cvs and elsewhere

I am bothered that the proce is represented as a discount when in fact this reduced price is actually almost a dollor more than what I would pay regular price at cvs or another similar store. It makes me mistrustful of the other prices noted.

By the way- I do like the product as good aftershave with a very soothing effect and nice scent.

Great and Smooth

Nivea's Shave Balm is great for after shaving, and it also lasts a long time too. I have been impressed with how far it goes and how well it performs.

I have used it to help shaving the head, and it has been excellent to aid in touching up the shave for an extra close shave there. It may sound weird, but it works well as a touch-up shaving cream. It really allows the razor to get close when you run against the hair on the head.

Beyond that, the product is excellent, and leaves a very fresh and invigorating feeling on the skin. Totally cool stuff from Nivea here.

BAD RHAP

I have used this shaver for over six years! I had to replace them two times. Once because the foil failed the other is while cleaning the blades I drop the foil in the toilet while it was flushing. To my dismay you have to buy the whole set at that time I had to order the set. The next time the price went down to $ 23.99 . This will be my third set! I think since I have very skin sensitive and use pre shave it helps the blades and foil. And for me it no razor burn:) :)

Good deal on defective blades, good money for junk

Blades were all dull and made loud vibrating noise when the razor was turned on. These are either defective blades intercepted on the way to the dumpster or fakes. Either way, they are useless junk. Went and bought another box at the local pharmacy for their inflated price. They worked night and day better than the blades I bought from these guys. Thanks a lot jerks.

Old School Product

Colonel Conk soaps are vety good traditional wet shaving products. The Amber Soap is my favorite. The scent is light, and not perfume smelling. This is what I would call -clean and pleasnt. It lathers very well, provides cushion for the blade and slicks down the skin for a smooth and comfortable shave. Nothing fancy here, but gets the job done very well.

cheap

i had just bought the razor and it works fine. this is the icing on the cake. it cleans and leaves the razor in like new condition. when amazon offered me a discount on the cleaner i'll always have perfect shaves

Good product

Product seems to be okay but they don't let you know you should have a special cleaning appliance to use this product correctly. I just put the heads in a plastic bowl added the cleaning solution, swished it around for awhile then just set it aside to dry. It cleaned the heads quite well.

Does what it's supposed to... but nothing is perfect.

First of all, I received a Norelco shaver with a cleaning unit and a bottle of this solution, so I was not afflicted, but yes, this is a useless product if you don't own the unit, unless you feel like dipping your shaver in the fluid and turning it on repeatedly (if it even is made fro that).

Though this product does clean and lubricate the blades, it's best to manually clean the separate heads and blades by taking the shaver apart once in a while, as the solution can not break down or remove every bit of "gunk" in the head, which is common sense.

Oh, and the price on Amazon is cheap too.

Pros. Ergonomic design. Quite operation. Easy clean up with soap and water.

Cons. No cord for shaving when the battery is dead. Inadequate performance for long bear growth or course beard hair.

If you shave daily and don't have course beard hair this shaver will likely be a keeper.

Good shaver, still prefer single head

I wanted an electric shaver, and hate the rotary head style. I had a Panasonic Smooth Operator Men's shaver in the 80's and loved it. It finally gave out after three years or so. I thought I would give Panasonic another try, but they only seem to have these double head shavers. It shaves as close as the old Panasonic, but the double heads cause me to miss single whiskers. After a day ot two, I will find one lone whisker approaching the 1/4 to 1/3 inch length. This is my only gripe about the double head system. If you like a double head, this is a great shaver!

I bought this for $34 with free shipping and I am very happy with it. It is a great bargain! It shaves close and is very quiet. Consumers Reports rated it number 3 in their test. But its price was well below the number 1 and 2 shaver. And I see it is now for under $30. Such a deal.

Great but no better than Venus Divine cartridges

All Venus razors accept all Venus cartridges. These Embrace cartridges are definitely larger than the three-bladed plain Venus and Venus Divine ones, but I was able to swap cartridges just fine between my Embrace and Divine razors. It doesn't matter whether you bought a plain Venus, a Venus Divine or a Venus Embrace razor. You can use any of the replacement cartridges with any of the razors. The biggest difference between the cartridges is not the number of blades, but the amount of lubrication, as I discovered when I accidentally ordered plain Venus replacement cartridges instead of Venus Divine cartridges.

The greater lubrication on the Divine and Embrace cartridges helps smooth over the rough edges of any dull blades. When you have this many blades, some of them are bound to be dull, but at a cost of about three bucks a pop, you don't want to have to throw one out so the extra cost of the lubricated blades in worth it. I don't think you really need the two extra blades, but surprisingly, the extra bulk of these cartridges didn't really get in the way. If you are very small, though, you might find using these on your armpits or the hollows in your knees tough and the 3-bladed Divine would be a better (and cheaper) choice.

Smooth shave

I ended up with this razor accidently, having bought the wrong cartridges at Walmart for my current razor. But I am so glad I did! Using this razor I shaved with water only and had no razor bumps or cuts. That's a first for me. This is the first razor I've ever had that actually shaved very close and I was smooth enough to keep the hubby happy for three days! It's the first time I felt I could shave less than every other day. Five blades may seem like a lot, but it's worth it! Great for more sensitive areas too!

Not My Favorite Pinaud Scent...

Vegetal Lilac has a scent that is about as appealing as its name. To me, it smells like an unwholesome mixture of lilacs and vegetable oil, and is not among my top choices for a men's aftershave. It delivers the refreshing tingle and restorative cooling sensation characteristic of the Pinaud line, but I find the odor more musty than musk. I am a big fan of the classic and special reserve scents, which I find spicy and masculine. I've used quite a variety of aftershaves ranging from Taylor of Old Bond to Pinaud and this is at the bottom of my list of specialty brands favored by those luxury shavers who use a straight razor or metal safety razor.

Perhaps it's a generational thing, but this has a distinct "old person" smell. By "old" I mean elderly and on the verge of death, as opposed to the classic scent I'd associate with a good aftershave a la the old-fashioned barbershops. I like everything about this product except for the smell. The bottle is classy and harkens back to the days of hair and health tonics. The texture is even pleasant, as the lotion has a pleasant viscosity that is neither too dry like most alcohol-based aftershaves, nor too creamy like some alcohol-free aftershave salves and balms.

I found this product especially disappointing because I love the smell of fresh lilac blossoms, but for some reason this scent just doesn't work for me. I recommend that those in the market for a good old-timey aftershave go with the Pinaud Clubman Classic or the Special Reserve. Both are excellent alternatives to the more expensive English aftershaves, and are more in line (from a value perspective) with the affordable bay rum scents many men find appealing. I've found the 6 ounce bottle itself will keep you in good company for about three months, and I like the profile of the smaller bottle, which is made of plastic and comes with a screw on cap. So, should it fall out of your medicine cabinet into your sink during a particularly harried Monday morning, the bottle won't shatter into a million pieces and baptize you and your bathroom with its concentrated aroma.

Vegetal Lilac is not a bad product, it's just not for me.

Excellent shaver... for a while

I bought one of these and was very happy with it for quite a while (maybe a year or two.) But lately it seems to take forever to get shaved, and when I finally give up, I'm not happy with the result. Sure, blades get dull and all that, but this seems to have happened very quickly compared to previous Norelcos I've owned. I wonder if Philips is joining the stampede of manufacturers going for cheap and substandard? I've just bought a replacement Norelco, and if this one goes the same route, after 20-30 years of Norelcos, it's on to some other model of shaver!

Very nice product

This shaver cuts closer and runs very much quieter than the Remington that it replaced. Chargeing requirement of once a week is a plus.

Smells Great

I buy this stuff for my Husband at his request. It is priced great and it smells sexy and manly on him.

Great aftershave for sensitive skin

I have a fairly sensitive skin and most aftershaves either don't do anything for me or are too harsh on the skin. This product however, is different. I tried several Nivea products, and while there is an aftershave for sensitive skin ( white bottle ), I find this one to be a lot better. Yes, it does give you a tingly sensation, but it does not leave your skin dry nor is it a gooey substance. It is slightly more viscous than most aftershaves but it has a fresh scent and the alcohol content seem to be just right. For me this is the perfect aftershave and since I found out about it I've been using it every day.

Quick & Easy Blade Replacement

The replacement blades are VERY simple to install. Just pop out the old & pop in the new and PRESTO-CHANGO a new shaver! Be sure to run the shaver through the cleaner both before and after you replace the blades.

By the way, to keep from having to install replacement blades, NEVER take the top off and run the shaver over the sink to give it a quick clean......especially in a hotel room with no grating in the sink drain!!

Great find

After going from store to store (and using precious gas)we found exactly what we needed through Amazon. Product came in 5 days and was the perfect replacement fit for the razor.

Great cutters, not so good foils

The cutters are excellent, the foil is a different story.

These foils fit very nicely, however, they are a little different from the original foils that came with the shaver. They give you a little spring action so the foils can move up and down a little as you move the shaver along your contour. I guess this could be a nice feature that gives a closer shave, but for me it gave me a noisier shaver (if you press the foils down the noise is reduced to original levels). That is why I give it only 1 3 star.

This is an excellent razor and I wouldn't use anything else on my sensitive skin. I'm just disappointed that the product is so difficult to locate in retail stores.

A lot a people have been having problems with CacheBeauty. My problem was the Shipping & Handling. The product was great. I've converted over to shaving bars from gel. The main reason I like the bar is that there's no guessing of the amount of gel. I always put way too much on and wasted almost a 1/4 of the can.

Gave this to my husband for Father's day at his request. At first glance, he thought he wasn't going to like it, but he charged it up and tried it and was pleasantly surprised. Very good value for the money.

not a fan

well, i've used it three or four times. then i bought a different razor. couldn't get a smooth shave, and how in the world it cuts my skin without cutting the hair above it i really don't know, but it managed it.

Didn't have much luck with this one

I've been using electric shavers for 30+ years, and bought this one to replace my worn-out Norelco triple rotary type device. From day one, this shaver didn't do the job. The instructions say to give it a few weeks so your skin can "adapt" to it (whatever that means - probably more accurate to say that your shaving technique will adapt to it since I don't think my skin actually went through any sort of transformation!). Unfortunately, it never got better. I have changed the foil a few times over the past year on the assumption that it may be dull, but no matter what, it takes several passes to cut through a day old beard, and even then leaves several stray hairs that cannot be cut no matter how many passes or from which angle or direction you make the pass. To get these stray hairs, I usually end up doing a "touch up" with a disposible razor blade, which sort of defeats the purpose of owning the electric device.

Norelco replacement heads.

This was the third set of replacement heads purchased for this razor. The new heads always return the shaver to like new condition. I replace the heads once per year. The order arrived in a timely fashion without problems.

Well satisfied

My razor is again performing like new. I am well satisified with these heads. They cut at least as well as the heads supplied with the razor.

One thing I have learned is that I can't go a year between replacing the heads. Fortunately Amazon now offers a program to send the item each time interval, up to 6 months, that you specify. I signed up for this to be sure that I will get new heads every 6 months for a price below the listed price and with shipping free.

This Female loves it!

Every review I have read regarding the Gillette Fusion razor and blades has been from a male. I am a female and love this razor for my legs and underarms! I received mine in the mail as a promotion about a year ago, and am still on the original blade! I often use my Remington electric shaver, but when I want a really smooth, close shave that lasts almost a week, I use my Gillette Fusion. So, while I've had it a year, I've probably used it a couple dozen times and the blade is just now starting to dull. I agree with others that the trimmer on the reverse side is a gimmick, especially for a female who doesn't shave sideburns or nose hair. My only complaint, like many other users of the Gillette Fusion, is the cost of replacement cartridges. Thankfully, one or two cartridges will last me a very long time!

more than just hype

yes, there has been deafening hype and marketing surrounding the fusion, but guess what? the damn thing is pretty amazing. it really does provide a crazy close shave with little to no irritation. yes, the blades are pricey, but hey, it's your face! you could keep hacking away with cheap Bic razors, but do you really hate your face that much?

P.S. I am also a head shaver, and this thing is very well adapted to the scalp.

Hmm...so it wasn't just a gimmick

I received these cartridges by mistake instead of the Mach3's ordered. The idea of 5 blades that are battery operated to vibrate in an orange handle seemed like something out of a Dr. Seuss book. Very gimmicky and overkill and bordering on kitsch. But rather than going through the hassle of returning them I popped in the battery after rolling my eyes at this corporate invented need and gave it a try. As much as I wanted to hate it, I found it to be a definite notch up the shaving food chain. The blades are very sharp and the vibration somehow seems to allow the head to glide more smoothly and evenly over the beard. The shave and closeness were the best I've ever experienced. Even the single blade on the opposing edge for maneuvering in tight crevices like under the nose worked perfectly. All this comes with a cost. When I surfed over to see what the cartridges actually cost I was horrified. Soon they'll need to be locked in a glass container at the grocery store with an armed guard in front of the display. Second, not sure if it's planned obsolescence engineered into the cartridges, but the blades seem to last only a few shaves, making them even more costly. The blades being mounted so close to each other also make them hard to rinse and they clog easily. Buying in larger quantities lowers the cost per unit somewhat. Personally, I'm hoping beards come back into style to create some downward pricing pressure.

"Replacement Foils and Cutters for Remington Shavers."

At the time I ordered the Remington MS2-390 shaver, I also ordered the extra foil and cutter set as spares. I was at first disappointed to see that they did not appear to be Remington brand, as they appeared in the Amazon web page, but were in plain non-Remington boxes. I very carefully examined them by comparing them to the brand new pieces in my new Shaver. In every respect, they are identical and are probably made by the very same factory in China that makes the Remington shaver. The distributor for the parts, "Shaveroutlet.com" is a factory service center for all types and brands of shavers and is most helpful if you have a problem with installation. My only concern with these parts is the way that Amazon.com advertises them by showing the parts in Remington card packs. They walk a very fine line here and should consider changing the way these are displayed. In any case, these parts should fit and perform as originals. (which they probably are)

good blades

It's not in the plastic package but i have been using these replacement blades for two months now and they work just fine. I would buy more.

Ten years of use

I've had this razor for over 10 years now and I've used it every day without any problems. This is my 4th set of blades in that period of time and I still get a good clean shave with only having to recharge after ten to twelve days of use. I've sure gotten my moneys worth with this product.

Best shave I ever had

You simply have to try this stuff! I tried it because I heard that some good, quality shaving soap would clear up razor burn and help with in-grown hairs and it's true. Just get a decent brush (don't spend too much on it - I spent $3.50 on a boar hair brush) and you're good to go. If you get the amount of water just right you'll find that the lather is better than any of the regular shave creams or foams or gels you can get down at the drug store. Plus, this doesn't have as much impact on the environment. I'm sick to death of plastic packages and cans of shave cream that don't always get recycled. This tub of soap comes in a little plastic container but lasts forever and you can recycle it at the end. I do wish it came in a paper or metal or glass container. I've used it every day for two months and I've only gone through about 3mm out of the 4cm deep bar.

Get the aftershave too. It's great stuff.

Very good Shaver

This shaver works very well, and has a very long battery life before you have to recharge. Cuts very smooth, and is easy to clean. No complaints, I have always been happy with Philips shavers.

Norelco is my standard razor.....

I purchased this Phillips Norelco razor after using my last one for 5 years. I've been using Norelco nearly all my life, and haven't found a better razor. My last razor needed a new head, but rather than replace it, I just decided to update my razor. Norelco has always given me a clean, smooth shave. I have never cut myself, and only had a few minor rashes. I just can't imagine a better, easier shave.

a man's man smell

I recently re discovered this great little after shave. It reminded me of walking down to the barbershop with my grandad and getting a trim and a splash of it and feeling like a grown up. nice smell, not overpowering and has that nice, ageless quality to it...a man's man smell.

This aftershave is excellent. It has the smell of an old barbershop and leaves you feeling like you just had a great shave. I have received a few compliments on the smell (which is not bad for a cheaper pricetag).The one bit of caution is that is stings a bit. However, it is great on nicks and stops bleeding fast. I used to use all different colognes ($40+) and aftershave balms. This aftershave is just as good for 1/8 the price.

Great shaver!

This shaver shaves very close. It's quiet. Cleans easily with water. Stays charged for a long time. An excellent product. Glad I bought it.

The best shaver I ever had

I am NOT new to the electric shavers. I have had a braun for almost two years. Then I switched back to razors for almost 5/6 years because my Braun was not wet/dry. Then I decided to switch back to a wet-dry electric shaver because I shave in the shower. I have less time to shave also. The wet/dry is a huge deal for me. Man, I am so glad I did switch. It does an excellent job. The shave is so close, you feel like you just used a mach 3 only without the clutter in your shower (you have to invest in a shower mirror though). It does a clean job on the neck areas.

I almost bought a philips rotary shaver that also dispenses gel. But after looking at the reviews in Amazon, I was convinced to buy this shaver. You can use any shaving gel (my favorite is the Nivea alcohol free gel) with this shaver. The battery is superb quality. One one-hour charge lasts a week! That is a whole week!!! Can you imagine that. Maan, you don't have to plug in the thing every time you shave. It cleans itself using regular shower gel or hand soap in seconds.

The only con I can think of is that, being a linear shaver, the in-grown hairs on my under-chin area needs a pass or two extra. But if you consider the time it saves me, that extra pass is nothing.

I did not want to invest in a seperate body groomer. Now I do not have to worry about shaving other areas in a seperate time with a dry-only groomer. Surprisingly, it does not try to cut a chunk off from your sensitive areas. It is very assuring to have this thing handy in your shower. I have had the shaver only for a little over a week. The pop up trimmer is the secret for the under arm and groin areas.

I am OK with the one year warranty that comes with it. I think, if it lasts a year, I have my money's worth. I had a $20 gift card from Best Buy. That made it a good buy. I'll be back to update the review if things pop up.

Best shaver under $100

I have owned two mid level Braun and two mid level Panasonic shavers before this one and I can say this Panasonic is by far the best. It is the closest, fastest, and most comfortable shaver I have used. Never having owned a shaver with a pivoting head, I was skeptical, but it actually improves the shave.

The only thing I can find wrong with this shaver is it is a little difficult to clean. It's not a deal breaker by far, but I understand why one of those slightly expensive automatic shaver cleaners would work well.

I'm going to guess a high end Braun might work just as well as this shaver, but I have always liked Panasonic a little better.

good razors

I think Mach 3 is a good shaving system, even though I do not think that Mach 3 is better than Sensor. I believe they do it only to make people buy new products.

Can't live without them.

I'm always amazed at how much these razors cost, but when I compare to other options, I always come back to the Mach 3. I've tried electric razors, but anything that's cheaper that buying Mach 3 blades can't do a thing about shaving the hairs on my neck. I'd guess that I use a blade every month and a half (long after the lubricating strip is gone), which makes this cost about $16 / year. A fine deal if you ask me.

My husband, a/k/a Wolfman, swears by these

My husband has a thick, dark beard and dainty, sensitive pale skin. These blades work well and don't irritate his skin. No five o'clock shadow; no razor burn. Using blades instead of disposables saves plastic and you get to hold a nice metal handle.

Perfect, huh?

Well, a straight razor is more green--it's forever if you just sharpen it, but he's not going there.

Great after shave.

Got it at Wal-Mart for around $5. I have been using Old Spice which contains alcohol, then I gave this a try. Alcohol based after shave dries out the skin so much compared to this. This definetly puts into perspective what a good after shave consists of. Reason why I didn't give it 5 stars: I like the scent of Old Spice better. I wish they made this stuff in more scents, then it would be perfect :)

Nice Clean feeling

Usually after shaving my face is very dry, but this helps alot to keep the skin on my face moist and feeling clean and refreshed. Worth the money, should last me over a year.

Beware: Bezel not included!

These new shaver heads replaced 2.5-year-old heads that were not shaving well anymore. The new heads do shave me closer and smoother, but the difference is not nearly as great as I expected. Even worse, the box contains only the actual shaver heads (foils and blades), and does not include the surrounding bezel (the plastic part that holds the three heads and itself flexes) -- even though the picture on the box and on the Web site shows the heads in the bezel. This was especially disappointing because my bezel broke after a year of use, and the local distributor refused to replace it under the 2-year warranty. I had to improvise a repair myself. This product should not be displayed and represented as including the bezel.

Better than factory original blades

There was a little confusion,in my mind, on if I was buying the heads only, and if new blades were included. It wasn't clear that you replace the heads & razors and that they are together in one pack. Once you have the package in your hand, it's obvious that you replace both. The new razors are giving me a closer shave than I got, when the shaver was new.

Good Blades

If you have an older Norelco Quadra these new blades work great. They actually seem to work better than the original blades. I tried one of the new Norelco shavers but didn't like it because it did not slide smoothly over my skin like the old Quadra. As long a my Quadra keeps working I'll stick with it and replace the blades every 18 mo. or so.

Good Product - OK Container

The product works well and gives me a very good shave, but I hate the container. Just a bar of soap in a plastic container. Your probably supposed to open the plastic once and put the shave soap in a soap dish, but that doesn't really work in a shower.

Very Nice

I first tried solid shaving soap after I tired of driving over mountains only to find my shaving kit filled with the foam from a leaky can. Solid shaving soap not only solved the leaky can problem, it has a comparable price, lasts longer, takes up a fraction of the space and works every bit as well -- better when used with a brush (and even better than that with a proper up and down brush stroke.)

Colonel Ichabod Conk Lime Shave Soap is a glycerine based soap that is more expensive than, but superior to non glycerine based soaps such as Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shave Soap - 2.5 oz, or Williams Mug Shaving Soap - 1.7 Oz; however, Colonel Conk is slightly irritating, it stings just a bit if you leave it on too long (but stops stinging as soon as you wash it off.)

Colonel Conk is not as good -- or as expensive -- as the magnificent European shaving creams like Proraso Eucalyptus Shaving Cream Tube, yet it gives great lather and a buttery smooth shave with no need for aftershave (though you may still want one), and leaves a very nice scent that is light, does not overpower, and goes well with the classic light or citrus colognes.

Like all such soaps, Conk fits perfectly into a Dark Wood Shave Bowl with Lid. Make sure to use with plenty of hot water, a double edge razor and a good badger hair brush, and be sure to protect your brush with a good stand too, such as a Nickel Shaving Brush Holder.

Great Soap for the Price

This is a great soap for the price. It allows me to get a great shave and does not dry out my skin like other shaving products. The only shaving prep that I like better is Tom's of Maine shaving cream.

Very Good For the Money

Consumer Reports hits the nail on the head. Shaves close compared to any other electric I've tried, though it is a bit louder than the Braun it replaced.

beats the rotary

Easy, fast clean shave. My skin might be a little oily-doesn't seem so to the touch, but the Remington powder stick helps the shaver glide and doesn't seem to gum up the shaver. Sometimes the shaver tends to bite where the skin is not kept taut.

ELECTRIC RAZOR

Knight Rider

The razor itself it not bad. It shaves well, lasts a while on charge, and seems to work as good as any other electric shavers that I've used.

Unfortunately, the base unit lets this device down greatly.

It looks like a relic from the late 80s. It has a kind of Knight Rider feel to it. Dark shiny plastic, and weird unnecessary venting. Green LEDs and unnecessarily weird shaped buttons.

But I could live with the weird style if it were not for how useless the base unit is. First off it takes hours to actually clean and dry the shaver, far longer than other units I've used. The cleaning cartridges don't seem to last very long, and about one in four times the device chunters away for a couple of hours only to fail, leaving the shaver wet and smelly and not clean.

The base unit is so noisy you are going to have to keep it in another room, away from your bedroom. And putting it an adjoining bathroom, is not going to cut it. It seriously needs to be quite some distance from you if you intend to be getting any sleep.

So overall, I was initially impressed. It does shave pretty well. The shaver is in fact a pretty decent design. But the dismal base unit is nothing but an annoyance. For such a high tech and expensive unit, it just isn't good enough.

Worth The Price...

The best shave ever. The cartridges are expensive but Amazon has by far the best price for the replacements compared to everyone. CVS and Walgreens cannot beat the Amazon price for these replacement cartridges. Well worth the price by not cutting up your face and walking around with stubble and razor burn like you would with less expensive razors....get the POWER fusion and you won't be sorry.

My husband has a thick beard and sensitive skin. He says of all the razors he's tried, these give him the best shave. However, for a military family on a tight budget, the blades are too expensive to replace as often as necessary. He's lucky to get two uses out of each blade. So.... great razor, but not quite good enough to justify the cost.

Great Product and Price

I go through this after shave balm about 1 a month. I got tired of paying $6 a bottle so I searched Amazon and found it. I got special shipping and essentially a 2 for 1 on the product. I had to buy 4-5 but I use it and don't switch products so bulk was fine for me.

Glad I tried it.....

I switched to Nivea a couple of years ago after having used a fairly expensive brand for many years. I like Nivea after shave balm much better -- refreshing, and not sweet or overpowering. A high quality product in my estimation.

I have to shave everyday because of the hair on my legs and this did not do the trick. It took a long time and the very next morning I had stubble. It worked great on my bickini area, but sadly was lacking on my legs.

highly satisfactory, but maybe I'm picky

This is an excellent product. It does everything it's supposed to do, but maybe I had high standards. The trimmer which pushes up often snags my hair, especially along the bikini line, which is where it is meant to help mostly, and I often end up with a little blood, probably from the snag pulling at my hair so hard.

Also, you have to use it slowly if you're looking for a close shave. It isn't as close as a regular razor, but it NEVER has given me irritation or bumps, and I ALWAYS got that with my regular razor. I can also shave daily now, which I was never able to do before because my skin was too sensitive and I would end up with horrible razor burn.

I find it works best slowly, in the shower, with shaving cream, on your legs and armpits. Not bikini. I'll stick to my old razor for that.

Overall, great product, but after reading 35+ five star reviews, I guess I was expecting something perfect.

Not bad for an electric or for the price.

I was only willing to purchase this for quick shave and go b/c of the affordable price. It obviously doesn't cut closer than a manual razor, but it helps if you miss a spot and don't have shaving cream/water nearby.

The trimmer isn't what I expected to be and will probably get very little use from me. The charger plugs into the wall with no cords and your shaver sits ontop of it.

It comes with a nice white bag which I probably will never use, but a nice touch nevertheless. It comes with one of those little brushes to separate hair and etc. It's a nice color :]

The on and off switch was a bit stiff at first, but now it turns on and off with ease. It works ok dry, but a bit of water makes it so much easier.

Great first razor for teens!

I ordered this razor for my 10 year old after she begged to shave her legs. It is terrific. I don't have to worry with her cutting herself and she's able to shave all by herself- she's actually thinks it is fun! Seems to keep a charge for a long time too..

Wonderful shaver!

I purchased this item, and got it 2 days later (I did standard shipping by the way). It was charged when I received it, but when you put it on the charger, it lasts a while...I haven't charged mine in a month, and it's still charged up! It shaves very nicely, I wasn't unsatisfied at all. It even comes with a cleaning brush!!! Which cleans quite well. This is the best electric shaver!!!

Outstanding! Takes a Licking and Still Works!

I was so tired of replacing razor/blade heads on the Schick and Gillette non-electric models that are sold in the grocery/big box stores. The blades alone were close to $5 for replacements, so I thought why not try an electric. So far, I'm delighted. This razor shaves smoothly in the shower and I experienced no razor burn on either my legs or underarms. I asked my husband about this complaint and he said the user was pushing too hard instead of letting the shaver glide over the skin's surface. Maybe that will help someone else. Anyway, the first time I used this, I dropped it - my hands are a bit klutzy. I was really upset because I thought I'd ruined my new shaver. Fortunately, it was simple to put it back together and it ran just fine after my accident. My only criticism is that replacement blades and a replacement head are more expensive than just buying a new razor. Guess when the head and blades need replacing, I'll just junk the old razor and get a new one.

Beware with rust

Three months ago, I bought 48 Gillette Fusion Power refills (quite an investment), and placed them on my bathroom drawer, and to my surprise, last week I went to replace a cartridge, and found that ALL, literally all, were completely rusted !

It's a a shock, and all Mach 3 I had there for longer than that were just like new.

How can P&G can explain that??

What happened to the blade quality after the free sample?

Last year I received a free Fusion handle and blade in the mail from Gillette. Tried it and got the smoothest shave I've ever had. I immediately decided to switch from an older system that I had been using for years.

That sample Fusion blade lasted about 3 months (I kid you not) and I do have a heavy beard. Wow, I thought. These blades are expensive, but if I didn't have to change them as often, it would actually cost less than I was paying for the Sensor refills. The great shaves I got from the Fusion really sold me on the product.

I purchased my first 4 pack locally and replaced the sample blade after it finally wore out. What the heck? After about a week the replacement blade was dull. I went through the 4 pack in about a month and bought a second pack at another retailer. Same thing. One week=1 blade.

Gillette must really think we're stupid. Give the suckers a free sample that's great and make them pay for crummy blades after they've committed to the system. Never again, Gillette.....I just ordered a Braun cordless from Amazon so you can just go pick someones else's pocket.

It was ok..not as great as I thought....

I bought the Fusion Power because I am a huge Federer fan and he endorsed this product so I thought why the heck not!! I have a pretty sensitive skin and I thought that this product would work out great for me. I was right. I absolutely loved the product which is why I ordered this replacement cartridges pack from amazon. For some reason though, these blades feel different, and not in a good way. Compared to the blade that came with the razor, these blades are really bad. I still found a way to make these blades work slightly better for me, but I was and am really disappointed. Maybe I got the bad ones or something, but do not buy this pack expecting it to work the same way as the one that came with the razor.....

Great Little machine

Shaves smoothley, it arrived fast and it works great. very satisfied and recommend it especially for people with sensitive skin. it really gave me a good shave. i use to shave only once a week with my old shaver becasue it gave me a bad rash everytime, but with this model i shave almost three times a week and it works great.

Norelco 9160xl

I recently purchased a Norelco 9160xl and am extremely happy with it. I was using a Braun. It shaved ok but left long hairs. The Norelco gives a smooth close shave and very comfortable. I especially like that it indicates how much charge is remaining which is very nice if you are traveling without the charger. The Braun simply quit when charge wore off.

Great razor

Gives my sensitive skin with tough, fast-growing beard (not a good combination) a close, comfortable shave. Charge lasts a remarkably long time. Extremely quiet operation. I'm very, very satisfied with this razor.

Not real impressed

I am not real impressed with this product it does not shave close and leave your legs soft and smooth, I was hoping for a better product.

Disappointing. Does not give a close shave. I practically have to rub my skin off to try to get a closer shave. Feels like it pulls the hair while trying to shave.

The Closest Shave You'll Ever Know

I have to say that this is my first time using shaving soap and I couldn't be happier. Colonel Conk's was an excellent choice and it really helps keep your skin nice and hidrated as you shave. The lather remains nice and thick and I really have to recommend the Bay Rum smell. It is the way that a man should smell. Use this shaving soap along with a safety razor or if you prefer a straight razor and you will not be disappointed. My face was left looking clean and smooth and I really enjoy the experience now. You truly get the closest shave that you'll ever know, in the words of Sweeney Todd.

Self-cleaning shaver solution

I own both the Braun and the Panasonic self cleaning shavers. The Panasonic works best for me. The cleaning cartridges are a better design than the Braun being water based rather than alcohol based. Less toxic for the environment, less weight and cost to ship, easier to dispose of, and bottom line, do a better job of cleaning the shaver because of the built in filtration system in the cleaning cartridge. Shaver looks and smells brand new every morning and shaves as close as a blade. Well done Panasonic!

This Cleaning Cartridge Is Great !

This is my first time using a Panasonic Vortex HydraClean shaving system. I think this cleaning cartridge is very good. The system cleans my shaver very good and the cleaner that is used in this package seems to do a great job. I have only had this system for about a month,so I haven't had to change the cartridge yet. I am very pleased with this product and happy to have purchased this shaving system.I wouldn't want to be without it!

Very nice

I decided to try this item after Amazon offered it at a great price. I had tried an electric many years ago and couldn't handle the pain of it ripping the hair out of my face, so I went back to a blade.

So I was a little afraid to try again. I'm so glad I did. It works great in the shower, and is very comfortable to use. The only complaint I have is that I cannot seem to find replacement blades or cleaning cartridges locally. Not a big deal.

Great close shave every time...

I've been using Gillette Mach 3 Turbo/Regular for years now, going to have to say since it came out. I love the close shave it gives me, as well as the rarity of the cuts it gives. I'll say this is the best of the shaving products out there, better then the 4+ blade ones as well. It certainly keeps my facial hair shorter the longest, and it lasts for about four shaves.

Loses a star because its so expensive for some cheap plastic and a small amount of sharpened metal.

I do recommend this product over all other manual shavers out there!

Best razor ever!!!!

I have had mine for a little over 2 years and it has never failed to amaze me on the closeness of the shave. I have extremely sensitive skin

and have never experienced pain or pulling of the hairs. Being fair complected i am prone to razor bumps from conventional razors and since using this I not only get a "smooth and silky" shave but razor bumps are a thing of the past. I am disappointed than the super store by me has discontinued the replacement blades from their stock but was happy to see it here at amazon. The cleaning mose is great just hit a button and go. If the noise "more like humming" bothers you just fininh your business in the room and hit the button on your way out. Personally I dont find it bothersome at all when you consider the thing cleans itself. What more could one ask for in a razor. It deserves 5 stars all the way!!

Works as expected. Like it very much but the cleaning is a bit noisy. Other than that I really like it - saves a lot of time over the old wet shaving.
